Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte: the legend returns, with 4Gb memory
SMAPE  News  Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte: the legend returns, with 4Gb memory

Today Nokia officially announced the new Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte premium-class handset.

The new handset displays but a negligible difference from the predecessor: it uses pieces of carbon fiber on the face and back panels. It’s noteworthy that the same kind of material is used in the premium class product by LG, KF755 Secret.

Besides the carbon pieces, Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte can boast the use of titan and stainless steel. A sapphire glass protects the screen. To prevent greasing and fingerprints, the surface of the casing uses a 3D pattern combined with a damage-resistant coating. The texture and color of steel are also useful for concealing the dirt. The surface is matte, of a deep gray color, that looks better than the original 8800 Arte.

The specifications of Nokia 8800 Arte are also remarkable for the availability of an OLED screen identical to the original one used in the predecessor, a 3.2 Mp camera with an auto-focusing capability and a microUSB slot. The amount of onboard memory has been quadrupled, as mentioned in our review of 8800 Arte / Sapphire Arte several months ago.

The market entry of Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte is scheduled for Q3 of this year at a guiding price of €1100. The gadget will become available for mass sale in September, the price is going to be some 200 euros higher than the current price of the previous incarnation.

It should be understood that Carbon Arte isn’t meant as a replacement for the predecessor. This merely is a fancy variation, a play on the casing materials. The changes are ultimately limited to the presence of carbon fiber pieces, a different set of user themes and a 4 Gb onboard memory chip. We also advise to refresh your memories of our full review of 8800 Arte available on our site. We will toss in a few extra photos shortly.
