SlotMusic – new music format
SMAPE  News  SlotMusic – new music format

The SanDisk company, the world’s largest memory card manufacturer, in collaboration with four major international record companies announced a new music standard – SlotMusic.

More and more people utilize their mobile phones as digital players and it’s mainly for these devices that the new format is meant, as well as for mp3 players and computers. SlotMusic is a 1 Gb SD/microSD memory card with an album of some artist, different extra materials and video clips on it. The first releases of SlotMusic will include only popular music by such performers as Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke, New Kids on the Block, Weezer, Usher, Chris Brown, Akon and Leona Lewis.

The tracks will be recorded in mp3 format with a bit-rate of 320 kbps, won’t have any restrictions on listening and won’t be protected by the DRM (Digital Rights Management) technology.

SlotMusic is planned to be officially launched in the USA this October and sold through WalMart and BestBuy retail stores at a price of about $15.
