The HTC Shift handheld notebook / PDA / smartphone hybrid was first presented to the public in November at the London exhibition and was meant to be released shortly after, but the actual release date is officially postponed - the product will start selling not until January, 11.

This is sure to have a very bad impact on the device's sales: many customers will be, quite naturally, out of money and packed with presents and purchases after the holidays, and a number of exhibitions like Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas will give the public a glimpse of similar products which could make potential competitors to the Shift device.
When there's at least a speculative choice, many a buyer will think twice whether to pick the Shift for $1200 or wait a couple of months and get a cheaper and more appealing alternative.
