The Willcom Japanese mobile operator publicly demonstrated a prototype device operating in the environment of the brand new Android OS developed by Google. As of now, the prototype is little more than a chip with an attached screen. The system makes use of a FreeScale 532 Mhz CPU.

The novelty is meant to demonstrate in practice all the capabilities of the new operating system. This also proves that Willcom is able of issuing a finalized Android-based handset in the nearest future. The demonstration included a few multitasking tests and a visual example of how the Google Maps software works installed on the new platform.
