The new version of iPhone supporting 3G networks was presented on June 9.
The head of the company Steve Jobs introduced the product. As it turned out, the 3G option can be switched off, but only manually through a number of menus. You cannot do that automatically or through the icon.
Supported Networks:
- UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
- GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Besides the 3G network support, a few more innovations were introduced …

The new iPhone has got a new back panel made of black plastic, the audio system was improved, the screen underwent no serious changes (became a bit brighter). WiFi is specified to remain of the same 802.11b/g version as it used to be in the original gadget. The camera remained the same in spite of its rather out-of-date specs (2Mp without AF).

The back panel, though made out of plastic now, doesn’t feel cheap. The material is of high quality. The same concerns the quality of implementation, the new iPhone has great looks in spite of its price being quite affordable for a new fashion product. The previous version is said to gradually disappear from retail, that’s why the aluminum lovers should make haste to get an older version of iPhone.

The new gadget has got an integrated GPS-receiver supporting A-GPS and camera software providing for a POI option. Once the reception quality is low, the handset makes use of cell towers and WiFi-networks to position itself. Mr. Jobs also mentioned using Google Maps.

The younger model will be available only with the black back panel and the senior will offer to choose between black and white colorings. The side buttons will be made from metal in both the variants. No other colorings are planned yet, but taking into consideration the reasonable price one can predict the new gadget to be much in demand.
