At WIS 2008 in Seoul the two Korean companies, Samsung and LG, presented their new UMPCs. These ultra mobile personal computers are expected to be officially announced in the second half year of 2008.
The new mobile PC by Samsung is designed based on the Snapdragon platform by Qualcomm and will be equipped with the ARMv7 CPU operating at a frequency of 1GHz. Besides, the computer will utilize a 12Mpix camera, GPS, TV features, WiFi and Bluetooth, support HD and operate in CDMA2000/EV-DO, WCDMA (UMTS)/HDFPA/HSUPA networks.

LG makes use of the Intel Menlow platform based on the new Intel Atom CPU with a frequency up to 1,8GHz and low power consumption (0.6 – 2.5 watt). The mobile PC is supplied with a 4.8 touchscreen, QWERTY keypad, 1Gb DDR2 storage, 40Gb HDD. HSDPA, WiFi and Bluetooth are also supported.
