Nine new members are going to enter the Symbian Foundation consortium. Thus, we can state that the campaign for supporting the new Symbian-based OS is gathering pace.
Three and TIM (European mobile service providers), América Móvil (the largest carrier in Latin America and the fourth largest in the world), the Marvell semiconductor manufacturer and the services and software providers - Aplix, EB, EMCC Software, Sasken, TietoEnator claimed their participation in the Symbian Foundation.

At the present moment the following members have declared their participation:
- The five largest mobile phone manufacturers in the world - Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, LG;
- The electronic component manufacturers - Broadcom, Ericsson, Freescale, Marvell, ST and Texas Instruments;
- The world’s largest carriers - América Móvil, AT&T, NTT DoCoMo, Orange, T-Mobile, Three, TIM and Vodafone;
- Other companies either directly or indirectly relevant to the mobile industry.
Let’s remind that the Symbian Foundation will be launched in the first half of 2009 – by that time Nokia plan to complete the process of acquiring Symbian.
