EU Consumer Commissioner Meglena Kuneva reported that 466 sites were, one way or another, breaking the law. The European Commission’s report says that:
- 54% of the checked websites were illegally overpricing their services
- 67% of the sites offered misleading information
- 80% of the websites failed to provide full contact information
Besides, the following law violations were found: some web resources didn’t indicate prices, didn’t inform users that they are actually signing up for a subscription and so on.

As a result of public pressure, the UK’s phone regulator PhonepayPlus (PPP) introduces new rules regulating the user-provider interactions. Now those sites that prevent users from stopping their services easily and quickly will be immediately shut down.
