M2E Power: energy in motion
SMAPE  News  M2E Power: energy in motion

The M2E Power Company, specializing in renewable energy projects, officially announced the completion of development work on a gadget turning the energy of motion into electricity. The device, meant for charging mobile handsets while in motion, is planned for release for early next year.

Based on the principle of induction, the gadget consists of a Li-Ion battery and a set of copper coils/magnets. If you put the unit into the pocket or rucksack, six hours of motion will provide your battery with a charge sufficient for 30-60 minutes of talking. The gadget doubtlessly will be in great demand. It will become an indispensable companion of trip lovers, let alone undeveloped, energy-short areas. According to the manufacturer, the gadget will be launched in early 2009 at a price from $25 to $40.

The appearance of such devices shows a pronounced tendency towards developing self-contained power supply technologies. It is not improbable that sooner or later we’ll see devices that need no AC power for recharging.
